The HFP-2293 Heat Pulse Flowmeter is a special borehole flow velocity meter designed to measure particularly low flows. It also provides the vertical direction of flow. Unlike the QL40-SFM, there are no rotating parts. Measurements are performed in stationary mode by positioning the sensor at different depths along the vertical line of investigation; a dedicated circuit heats the water, and two sensors placed above and below detect temperature changes, determining the velocity and direction of flow.
It allows for extremely detailed hydrogeological analyses aimed at studying underground hydrodynamics, such as the effective measurement of an aquifer’s transmissivity, measurements of aquifer horizon recharge or absorption, identification of hydrostratigraphic units, and analysis of aquifer potential.
