The QL40-GR-CCL probe allows for natural gamma ray (GR) and casing collar locator (CCL) measurements. The gamma ray (GR) portion measures the intensity of the gamma radiation naturally emanating from the soil traversed by the probe using a dedicated sodium iodide (NaI) sensor. It consists primarily of the contribution of uranium, thorium, and potassium and provides essential information on the mineralogy and therefore the litho-stratigraphy under examination.
The Casing Collar Locator (CCL) sensor consists of a magnetic device sensitive to variations in the metal thickness of the well casing. This measurement is ideal for identifying the position of the metal sleeves connecting the casing.
