Accessing a radioactive source.
The QL40-NEU Neutron probe uses a He-3 thermal neutron detector. It measures porosity in counts per second, which can be directly correlated with formation porosity. The probe was designed to maximize sensor sensitivity with sources as low as 1 Curie. The active source is housed in a specially shielded container.
