The new QL-40-OBI-2G represents the second generation of optical probes, building on 20 years of experience. This latest version is based on a completely new sensor (high-resolution CMOS) and electronics.
This probe provides a 360-degree digital image of the borehole walls, allowing for assessment of the borehole’s verticality (one 3-axis magnetometer and three accelerometers), the condition/wear of the borehole walls, filters, and casing (well inspection). It also allows for the detection, classification, orientation (direction and inclination), and stereograms of existing fractures, allowing for highly detailed geological, structural, and stratigraphic surveys. The only obstacle is the potential lack of transparency of the fluid (if present), which can obscure the image. This can be overcome by using the QL-40-ABI-2G acoustic pulse probe.
