Dual Induction – EM39 (QL40-IND)

This log is based on Geonics EM-39 technology (www.geonics.com) or ALT technology (www.alt.lu), which measures soil apparent conductivity in mS/m (the inverse of resistivity) using electromagnetic induction. This probe is therefore extremely useful for stratigraphic/environmental characterization of soils (groundwater exploration, studies on marine intrusion, pollution, groundwater quality, etc.).

The ALT DIL 45 Dual Induction probe induces an electric current in the soil by an electromagnetic field emitted by a transmission circuit. This generates a secondary electromagnetic field that is recorded by two receiving circuits inside the probe. The intensity of the induced current is directly proportional to the conductivity of the formation surrounding the tool.

Unlike standard resistivity probes, it offers the great advantage of being able to be used even in saturated or dry PVC-lined holes.

Dimensions:

• Diameter: 45 mm;

• Length: approx. 190 cm;

• Weight: 7 kg.
