The GSMP20S3 Potassium SuperGradiometer was designed to provide extremely precise measurements of the Earth’s magnetic field. It consists of a dedicated acquisition system and three very large potassium sensors (from 130 mm to 150 mm) for measuring the magnetic gradient in three arbitrary directions. Its precision and sensitivity are extremely high (from 0.3 to 0.5 picoTesla!). Typical applications include studying the properties of magnetic fields in relation to earthquakes, volcanology, and the study of the ionosphere.
